The Dalhousie men’s soccer team fought valiantly on Saturday against the highest scoring team in the AUS, the Cape Breton Capers, but eventually lost 3 – 1 on Wickwire Field.

The Tigers dropped from a three-way tie for the league lead before the lost to fourth place in the circuit as of Saturday’s play.

Jordan Mannix had the Tigers up 1 – 0 early on, but the Capers tied it with only nine minutes left in the first half.

Cape Breton scored the go-ahead goal on a penalty kick in the 54th minute, awarded because of a handball by Tigers defender Nick Persichino. The Tigers played the remainder of the game down a man, making a comeback too tall an order.

For an extended recap of the game, read the Sept. 30 edition of the Dalhousie Gazette.
