The Tigers women’s soccer team braved the elements when hosting Cape Breton University Saturday afternoon. Through rain and high winds, the Tigers prevailed 3 – 2.

With this win, Dalhousie knocks CBU from the top of the standings, which they continue to share with UPEI as of Saturday. Dal has 12 points with a 4 -1 record.

Offensive perseverance was the story on a very wet Wickwire, with many great chances from both sides. Pamela Krieg, Rieka Santilli and Beth O’Reilly provided the three Dal goals.

Tigers coach Jack Hutchison said it feels good to be the first team to score on CBU this season, but “not as good as it does to beat them.”

For an extended recap of the game, read the Sept. 30 edition of the Dalhousie Gazette.

Hailing from Saint John, Andrew followed his frosh leader to a Gazette contributor's meeting in his first week at Dalhousie and didn't look back. He took on the women's soccer beat, attending games at Wickwire no matter the weather and watching the webcast whenever the Tigers were on a different pitch. He does not claim any responsibility for the Tigers winning the league championship during his first season covering the team.
