The Dalhousie Board of Governors has selected an interim university president for the remainder of 2019.
Dr. Teri Balser, who’s been at Dalhousie University as the provost and vice-president academic since last fall, will be taking on the leadership role until Deep Saini fills the position in January 2020. During this period, Chris Moore (Dean of the Faculty of Science), will act as provost and vice-president academic.
According to a memo from outgoing Board of Governors Chair Lawrence Stordy, the board voted on June 25 to appoint Balser.
Before arriving at Dal, Balser worked at Curtin University in Australia. She’s now filling the shoes of the controversial Peter MacKinnon, who has served as interim president from January of this year. He officially holds that position until June 30.
