Dalhousie athletic director John MacDonald has stepped down effective immediately, according to an email sent to Dal staff late Monday afternoon.

Karen Moore, the associate director of athletics at the school since 1990, has agreed to take on MacDonald’s post.

Moore comes to her new position with a long history with Dal’s athletic programs. The former Tigers athlete and Olympian is a two-time inductee of the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame. She was also a six-year coach with the Tigers volleyball team.

MacDonald was appointed as athletic director on Dec. 17, 2009.
