The Tigers lacrosse team was 2.2 seconds away from winning their opening game of the regular season when it slipped away. They did not let the same fate befall them in extra time.

Triple overtime was required, and found Dal the winner Saturday evening at Wickwire Field in a see-saw 14 – 13 triumph against the visiting St. FX X-Men.

Duane Davis fired the ball past the goalkeeper with 11 seconds to go in the third overtime session to claim victory, causing his team to storm the pitch in celebration.

St. FX appeared intent to steal the game themselves when Tanner Clarkson jumped on a rebound with 2.2 seconds left in regulation time to tie the contest 12 – 12. Both teams had a goal in the first overtime period, which was not sudden-death.
