Men’s soccer rallies to tie nail-biter

The Tigers men’s soccer team battled the undefeated St. FX X-Men at Wickwire Saturday, Oct. 15, finishing the aggressive game with a 2 – 2 draw.

While the first half was relatively quiet with no scoring, the second half made up for it with four goals.

St. FX opened the half, less than five minutes in, with a goal by third-year A.J. Gray. Dalhousie was slow to reply but did so when midfielder Wed Hawley had his first goal of the season to tie the game at one apiece.

Not to be outdone, the X-Men pulled ahead again with a goal by fifth-year Michael Marousek in the 81st minute. Less than four minutes later, Dal’s Julian Perrotta, who had walked off the field earlier in the match with a minor ankle injury, returned to tie the game at two.

As of Saturday’s contests, Dal sits at 3-3-2. St. FX is a point back of Cape Breton for the league lead; they are 5-0-3.
