Although it was only against Acadia’s developmental team, the Dalhousie Football Club played against a CIS football team Saturday night for the first time since 1976. The Tigers, however, which returned last season after a 34-year hiatus, did not come out on top.

On a wet and windy Wickwire Field, the Tigers fell 32 – 7 against the Acadia Axemen’s developmental squad.

The Axemen were up 24 – 0 following the first half, and it was only until the fourth quarter when the Tigers offence finally scored courtesy of a touchdown catch by Richard Wang. Acadia’s Troy Harrison would get on the scoreboard shortly after to give his squad a lasting 25-point cushion.

The pregame Lobster Tailgate Party was postponed due to inclement weather. It has been rescheduled to Oct. 22 ahead of the homecoming game against UNB Fredericton at 2 p.m.

For an extended recap of the game, read the Oct. 7 edition of the Dalhousie Gazette
