This is the first performance in the 2016-17 King’s at the Cathedral concert series featuring five-time Grammy winner Paul Halley, the acclaimed University of King’s College Chapel Choir, and the Maritime Brass Quintet. (The Chapel Choir is traveling to perform the same programme in Saint John NB at the large Catholic Cathedral there the weekend before – October 28 – as part of that Cathedral’s concert series as well.) The program features the Mass in G minor for unaccompanied double choir and solo quartet by 20th-century English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. Also featuring Poulenc’s dramatic Litanies a la Vierge Noir for female voices and organ, Barber’s famous setting of the Agnus Dei, Banjamin Britten’s Festival Te Deum (20th century), a Josquin Nunc Dimittis (16th century), and glorious hymns inviting audience participation with the pipe organ and Maritime Brass Quintet, all in the outstanding acoustic of All Saints Cathedral.
