The Dalhousie Tigers men’s hockey team is one step closer to gaining the sixth and final AUS playoff spot. A 4 – 3 overtime win against cross-town rivals Saint Mary’s Huskies Jan. 20 closed the gap to just one point between Dal and St. FX.

Despite giving up a two-goal lead halfway through the second period thanks to goals from Lucas Bloodoff and Kyle Wharton, Dal managed to hold on. A power play marker by Pierre-Alexandre Vandall gave the Tigers their second lead of the game early in the third period.

The 3 – 2 lead would be short-lived, however, as Cory Tanaka replied just 2:04 minutes later for the Huskies. Jordan Villeneuve-Gagne had the eventual overtime winner for Dal.

For an extended recap of the game, check the Jan. 27 edition of the Dalhousie Gazette.
