Slowly making a comeback

Dal, the Saint Mary’s University Huskies, and the Acadia Axemen and Axewomen have begun a five-week exhibition schedule featuring the possibility of games in as many as four sports: basketball, hockey, swimming and women’s volleyball. For teams in each sport, this is their first taste of play against Atlantic University Sport (AUS) opponents in roughly a calendar year.

Finishing what she started

Anna Stammberger (née Pendergast) has coached her final regular season basketball game for the Dalhousie University Tigers women’s basketball team. The 2014-2015 Atlantic University Sport (AUS) Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year announced she would retire following the 2020-2021 season.

Dal offering strange COVID-19 fan experience

The way indoor sports such as basketball and volleyball are watched live will be changing. While games will still be played at Dal’s facilities, spectators will be seated in state-of-the-art “sport pods,” which will replace the current bleachers.

From Tigers to Stingers and back

Ochu played against strong competition in U Sports, but the CEBL was another level to experience. He wasn’t able to get much time on the court, but he was able to learn what it takes to play on the professional level.

Kids jump back into action

Tigers Kids Camp

Dal’s summer youth programs started up later than usual this year. The first day of camps began on Aug. 4. Groups were limited to eight participants with a maximum of two instructors. Programs offered included basketball, volleyball and soccer camps, plus “Active Youth,” “Youth Adventure” and “Youth Leadership” programs.
