Losing skid persists even with strong effort

Despite a strong effort, the Dalhousie Tigers men’s hockey team extended their losing streak to eight games Nov. 12 as they lost 6 – 3 at Memorial Arena against the UPEI Panthers.

Trevor MacKenzie had a two goal effort and Jordan Villeneuve-Gagne also had a goal for the Tigers. Jared Gomes, Jordan Knox, Devin Praught and Matt Carter all scored for the Panthers.

After building an early 2 – 0 lead in the first six minutes, the Panthers had a response for everything the Tigers sent their way. Villeneuve-Gagne finally got the Tigers on the board 8:08 into the first, however Praught replied before the period ended to keep Dal’s deficit at two. The rest of the game consisted of much of the same on the scoreboard.

The evening before, the Tigers were defeated 9 – 2 at home to the No. 1 ranked team nationally, the UNB Varsity Reds.

For an extended recap of the game, check the Nov. 18 edition of the Dalhousie Gazette.
