The Dalhousie women’s basketball team cruised to a victory Jan. 29, handing their opponents, the St. FX X-Women, a 71 – 42 beatdown at the Dalplex.

Staking themselves to a nine-point lead in the first quarter, the Tigers never looked back. Dal forced St. FX into bad shots and poor turnovers, and the X-Women were never able to find a rhythm.

No X-Woman scored in the double digits. Their team leader, Kiley DeLong, had nine points. The Tigers were led in scoring by Courtney Thompson and her game-high 16 points. Anna von Maltzahn also contributed with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

Dal’s victory marks the squad’s second win in four games. The Tigers previously had a seven-game losing streak.
