Phil Parsons, it may be said, silenced the Saint Mary’s Huskies in scoring the only goal of the game Oct. 21.

After his 11th minute marker, Parsons drew scorn from the opposing side during his celebration, running toward the small, yet vocal, section of Huskies supporters and raising his hand to shush the crowd. Saint Mary’s, however, did not have a chance to cheer themselves, blitzing eight shots on net after halftime but still falling 1 – 0.

Saint Mary’s, 3-1-5, recorded their first defeat of the season. The Tigers are 5-3-2.

The second half was a particularly testy affair as the head referee had an integral task keeping the physical contest under control. He issued four yellow cards, three to Dal and one to SMU.

The rivals meet for their second and final match of the season at Huskies Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 26.

For an extended recap of the game, check the Oct. 28 edition of the Dalhousie Gazette.
